A dynamic international wildlife charity, devoted to compassionate conservation and animal welfare. Born Free believes wildlife belongs in the wild and works to phase out zoos and stop animal exploitation. Born Free rescues individuals and gives them lifetime care. With local communities Born Free protects lions, elephants, tigers, gorillas, wolves, bears, dolphins, turtles and much more in their natural habitat.
Born Free relies on the support of people like you. At their online shop you can join Born Free, adopt your own animal, buy wild merchandise or go on holiday. You can choose from their Gift List and show your friends you care with a gift that cares! The animals get the presents and you get a special card representing each gift.

The movie 'Born Free' (1966) tells the true story of George and Joy Adamson helping a lioness to return to the wild. Virginia McKenna and Bill Travers, who were actors in the film, set up 'The Zoo Check Campaign' as a direct result of what George and Joy's help did. The Born Free Foundation was then established in 1991.
